Youth Cooking Club

Youth ages 10 to 13 are invited to learn basic cooking skills and how to prepare simple, healthy meals. Each session will include hands-on experience creating nutritious dishes while developing practical skills that can be used at home.

Youth will learn:

  • Kitchen safety and hygiene
  • Basic knife and cutting skills
  • Measuring and mixing techniques
  • Reading and following recipes
  • Working cooperatively in a kitchen

The program supports confidence, independence, and creativity in the kitchen. This is a great opportunity for young cooks to build a foundation in healthy eating and meal preparation in a supportive and fun setting. All ingredients and equipment are provided. No prior cooking experience is necessary.

Note: If your child has food allergies or restrictions, please contact us at fccadmin@canmore.ca to see if we can accommodate.

What to bring: Food storage containers for leftovers, apron, and hair ties for long hair. Please also ensure your child has eaten lunch beforehand so they are not hungry during the program (meals will not be ready to eat until 3:30 p.m.)

Dates: Fridays, 1-4 p.m. on Oct. 3, Nov. 7, Dec. 5, and Jan. 30 (4 weeks)
Location: Scout Hall, 914 8 Street, Canmore

This is a 4-week commitment, participants must plan to attend all sessions.
